On Friday, 24 February, Sven-Olov Daunfeldt, chief economist at The Confederation of Swedish Enterprise (Svenskt Näringsliv) , held an exciting seminar at JIBS, arranged by CEnSE.

During the seminar, Sven-Olov gave an overview and analysis of the current economic situation in Sweden and the Jönköping region.

The inflation rate seems to be slowing down, which is positive. Still, Swedish households are extremely pessimistic. Many companies are fighting for survival, forced to reduce their workforce and refrain from planned investments. In Jönköping County, the construction sector has been primarily affected. Also, the commerce and hospitality industry has been hit hard. Although it's hard to predict the economic situation a year from now, the audience also got valuable input on that answer. According to Sven-Olof Daunfeldt, the bottom line is that Sweden needs many immediate, powerful measures to reduce the effects of the coming recession.

Sven-Olof enjoyed his visit at JIBS, not least the initiated questions from the audience.

"This was great fun. It's one of the seminars I've enjoyed the most. It's great to have this kind of discussion with such knowledgeable audiences. I had known many of them before, and it was great to meet them again. I am grateful for the opportunity," says Sven-Olof Daunfeldt.
