Almedalen Week a great source of inspiration
The Almedalen Week is over for this year and many are travelling home with new insights and contacts. This tip comes from Yousef Al Eleya, who study the programme Master of Science in Engineering, Building technology at the School of Engineering, JU.

Nine out of ten JU students find work shortly after graduation
As many as 87 per cent of students who graduated from Jönköping University (JU) in the 2022/23 academic year had entered the labour market within 1–1.5 years. This is according to a new report from the Swedish Higher Education Authority (UKÄ), in which the result places JU well above the national average and among the highest-ranked universities in Sweden that have a broad range of degree programmes.

A Unique Foundry Initiative for a Competitive Industry
Sweden risks falling behind in the global race for the manufacturing technology of the future. During Almedalen Week, SMEC – the Swedish Metal Casting Excellence Center – is being launched: a national foundry initiative in which Volvo Cars, the Volvo Group, Scania and Jönköping University, amongst others, are collaborating to strengthen the industry’s ability to adapt and its competitiveness.

Eleonor Fransson appointed Executive Vice President
Eleonor Fransson is the new Executive Vice President at Jönköping University, taking up her post on 1 July 2026. The appointment is for a four-year term and also means that she will be appointed President’s deputy.

Jönköping host the Human Rights Days 2027
The Human Rights Days, the Nordic region’s largest forum for debate and discussion on human rights, will be held in Jönköping in 2027. Jönköping University (JU) is one of the local hosts, alongside several other organizations in the region.

An adventure on two wheels: Italy-Jönköping round trip
For most people, moving to Jönköping means traveling by plane, train, or car. For Silvia Dal Sasso, it meant cycling all the way from Italy – with everything she owned packed into two bags.“I’ve been trying to avoid flying for several years unless it’s absolutely necessary. If there’s an alternative, I choose that,” she says.
