Jönköping University prepares for rowing championships
This autumn, the European Universities Championships in Rowing will be coming to Jönköping. So far, 42 universities from 13 different countries have registered to compete. Jönköping University will not only be competing in the championships, but also playing a vital part in hosting this prestigious event.
Between the 4-7 September, Jönköping University campus will be teaming with athletes and other visitors from all over Europe. The 11th European Universities Championships in Rowing is coming to Jönköping and the university's campus will be used as a hub area for the rowers and other visitors to the competition.
Campus Arena will be used as the accreditations centre for the championships as well as a catering venue for visitors. Among other planned events during the four-day championships will be an exhibition of JU master's programmes and a series of public lectures on sports-related topics that will be taking place at the School of Health and Welfare. Jönköping Student Union will be hosting evening events as well.
Rowing is one of the most popular university sports and these championships will be one of the top sporting events the city of Jönköping has ever had. Lake Munksjö will be the rowing venue with the spectacular finishing line located right in the city centre by Lillsjöplan (see map below).
The European Universities Rowing Championship 2019 is a collaboration between Jönköping University, Jönköping Student Union, the Swedish University Sports Federation, Destination Jönköping, Jönköping municipality, Jönköping University Rowing Association, Jönköping Rowing Society and Huskvarna Rowing Society.
