Top rating for Healthcare Administrator programme

The Healthcare Administrator vocational programme has received the highest rating from the Swedish National Agency for Higher Vocational Education. The programme, which is run by Jönköping International Business School (JIBS) at Jönköping University, in collaboration with Jönköping Academy and the Department of Natural Science and Biomedicine at the School of Health and Welfare, was given ‘Very High Quality’ not only as an overall rating, but also in every individual criterion in which the education was assessed.

Among the reasons for giving the highest rating of ‘Very High Quality’ to the Healthcare Administrator programme, the National Agency for Higher Vocational Education cited the programme’s strong working life connection, the extensive quality work carried out by the course coordinators and the programme director, and the high numbers of students applying and successfully graduating from the programme.

“This is really good news for our programme,” says the Ewa Beiving, the programme’s director at JIBS. ”The decision tells us that we are doing what we are supposed to do, and we are doing it with high quality.”

Close collaboration between JU schools and Jönköping County Council

The Healthcare Administrator programme is offered by JIBS in collaboration with Jönköping Academy, which is a research and education centre at the School of Health and Welfare (HHJ), and also with Region Jönköping County. The programme has been running since 2005, but this is the first time it has been selected for a quality review by the National Agency for Higher Vocational Education.

“As well as a good cooperation between our two schools, this programme is also the result of a good and close collaboration with Region Jönköping County, who is the main employer of our students. There is a great need for healthcare administrators in this region and when we follow up on our students 6 months after graduation, all of them have found jobs,” says Ewa Beiving

Extensive analysis of the programme

The quality review process of the programme began in November 2020 and involved an extensive analysis of all parts of the programme, along with interviews of programme director, associate dean of faculty, leadership team, teaching staff and students. Supervisors from the region also participated in a survey. Based on the data collected, the reviewers wrote a preliminary report and then made their final decision on 25th March 2021.

“Now we are moving forward and aim to make the Healthcare Administrator programme even better!” says Ewa Beiving.
