Jönköping ranked fourth best student city

Students in Jönköping are among the most satisfied in Sweden. This is revealed in the new national report Talent City Index 2025 – Student Special, where the city secures an impressive fourth place when students themselves rate their study location. The results show that Jönköping is highly valued as a place to live and study, thanks to its strong combination of safety, accessibility, and vibrant city life.
Jönköping stands out in several key areas

- Shared second place for professional/industry connections during studies
Talent City Index – Student Special, produced by Future Place Leadership in collaboration with WeStudents, is the largest study of its kind and was conducted for the first time in 2025. The report covers 75 Swedish municipalities and is based on responses from over 3,500 students at universities in Sweden. It maps both students’ experiences during their studies and their choices of future cities for work and living.
Jönköping ranks as fourth best in sthe study lociation category. In the overall ranking of where students want to live and work after graduation, Jönköping claims seventh place out of 75 municipalities. This means Jönköping is one of the country’s most attractive future cities for young graduates, ahead of several larger university and regional capitals.
“It is extremely gratifying that both Jönköping as a city and Jönköping University rank so highly in terms of attractiveness. The fact that our students are so satisfied with their choice of study location is clear proof that we offer an environment where young people thrive and develop,” says Anders Jonzon, Chief Communications Officer at Jönköping University.
One of Sweden's most appreciated cities
Students' positive feedback also reflect how residents experience Jönköping. In the main report Talent City Index Sweden 2025, which maps how satisfied residents are with their cities, Jönköping ranks a very strong second place nationally, only beaten by Lund.
Residents particularly highlight safety, accessibility of the city, good access to services and care, and a pleasant and well-kept urban environment. This means that both students and residents see Jönköping as a city offering a high quality of life and excellent conditions for everyday life, studying and working.
