Sustainability Education Research (SER)

This research theme brings together viable research projects within the internationally well-established research fields of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and Science Education within the theme of sustainable development.

Sustainable development can be described as a development that meets the needs of the present generations, while protecting the earth's life support system so that future generations can also meet their needs. The theme includes studies of formal, informal and non-formal learning from preschool to adulthood. The research theme works across disciplinary boundaries, together with actors outside academia and with a plurality of knowledge traditions and research methods. Within SER, research is conducted on forest gardens and ecosystem services, actions for sustainable development, the particle model of matter, ESD in higher education and complexity and responsibility for learning.
