Rheocast vehicle chassis components in aluminium
Electrification and changes in the design and manufacture of cars with large multi-functional castings, eliminating large numbers of assembly operations and simplifying recycling due to a reduced number of materials. The lack of assembly furthermore reduces the need for screws and rivets resulting in Fe contamination of the cast materials to be recycled. Rheocasting has the potential to reduce porosity, enhance ductility and simultaneously increase the ability to fill high aspect ratios with a minimum turbulence. In addition, for heavy vehicles fatigue performance is critical which also is highly dependent on defect content in the castings.
The current webinar reviews the latests findings in the used of castings for more critical compomnents as body in white and chassis components. The webinar also focus on how to transform from a die caasting or high pressure die casting operation into a rheocasting operation to reap the benefits of a reduced defect content and a turbulence free filling.
Date: Apr. 19, 2022
Time: 10:00-11:00 (+ 30 min panel discussion)
After attending this webinar you will:
- Understand the rheocasting process and the change in defect content
- The relationship between defects and processing on ducrtility and fiatigue performance
- Understand the important elements to transform from gravity die casting / hig-pressure die-casting to rheocasting
This webinar is specifically useful for designer and supplier manager of Al component industries. End user of Al components. Everyone with interest in Al casting but with a particular focus on those involved in the use and design of toolings in the high pressure die casting bussines.
