On the use of additive manufacturing in tools for high-pressure die casting
High integrity castings are growing in importance as the use of castings will find its way to more and more challenging applications. The new requirements on strengths, ductility and porosity management are dramatically increasing. This also applies to the requirements on tooling used in high pressure diecasting and in general all casting and injection moulding processes.
In this webinar we will give an introduction to the tools steel materials that can be used for additive manufacturing. Additive manufacturing set new requirements on te materials to be used as the processing route is very different from conventional toolsteels. This also apples to how to design tooling to make the most out of the added felxibility that additive manufacturing offers without comporomising part quality and tooling tolerances. There is also a change in tooling performance and an example from the experience of using additively manufactured tools will be given.
Date: Nov. 4, 2021
