Pathway Programme + North Park University
When applying for the NPU-Jönköping Pathway Programme, you will be pre-assessed for eligibility for Bachelor or Master programmes at NPU. You will receive confirmation of eligibility for admission into the programmes at NPU conditional on the successful completion of the Pathway Programme.
Admission Requirements
Requirement from high school/upper secondary school:
- High School Diploma, specific requirements in mathematics
Bachelors degree if applying for masters.
Pathway Year- English Track:
- TOEFL (We do not accept TOEFL ITP or TOEFL iBT MyBest score)
- Internet based: Score of 14 (scale 0-30) in written test, total score of 61
- The TOEFL test result cannot be older than 2 years.
- Internet based: Score of 14 (scale 0-30) in written test, total score of 61
- IELTS Academic (We do not accept IELTS General Training)
- An overall score of 5.0 and no section below 4.5
- The IELTS test result cannot be older than 3 years
- An overall score of 5.0 and no section below 4.5
- Cambridge English Language Assessment
- Cambridge English: First Certificate (grade C)
- To verify the Cambridge English Certificate, students must share the candidate ID number and secret number with Jönköping University.
- The test result has no expiry date.
- Cambridge Michigan Language Assessments
- Michigan English Language Assesment Battery (MELAB), minimum score of 75
- The test result has no expiry date.
- Pearson PTE Academic
- Score of 40 (writing 40)
- Pearson PTE Academic test results must be made available to Jönköping University, Sweden by the testing centre.
Pathway Year- General Studies:
- TOEFL (We do not accept TOEFL ITP or TOEFL iBT MyBest score)
- Internet based: Score of 17 (scale 0-30) in written test, total score of 72
- The TOEFL test result cannot be older than 2 years.
- Internet based: Score of 17 (scale 0-30) in written test, total score of 72

- An overall score of 5.5 and no section below 5.0.
- The IELTS test result cannot be older than 3 years.
- Cambridge English Language Assessment
- Cambridge English: First Certificate (grade A or B)
- To verify the Cambridge English Certificate, students must share the candidate ID number and secret number with Jönköping University.
- The test result has no expiry date.
- Cambridge Michigan Language Assessments
- Michigan English Language Assesment Battery (MELAB), minimum score of 85
- The test result has no expiry date.
- Pearson PTE Academic
- Score of 47 (writing 50)
- Pearson PTE Academic test results must be made available to Jönköping University, Sweden by the testing centre.
- The test result has no expiry date.
Students who already meet the minimum requirements for a programme at NPU are not eligible for the Pathway Programme.

How to apply?
Apply through the JU Direct Application
- Fill in the online application form. Please note that the postal address and e-mail address you provide will be used for all future communication. It is therefore very important that the information is correct.
- When you have completed the application form, please check the information carefully before submitting the application by clicking on the "Next" button.

Documents to upload - Bachelor
- High School Diploma/Certificate (which entitles the student to university studies in his/her home country)
- Transcripts of completed courses and grades (if issued separately from the Diploma/Certificate)
NOTE: Students in their final year of high school/upper secondary school, can apply only if the following criteria are met: official semester grades for all high school years including the first semester of the final year can be submitted. Country Specific Requirements - Bachelor
For some countries, documents must be sent directly by the school, university or authority to the Admissions Office, either electronically or by post. Read more about specific country requirements here.
Important
Always submit documents in the official language of the country where you studied, along with an official translation in English. Documents directly issued in English are accepted. Note: We also accept official transcripts and diplomas issued in Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, German, French, and Spanish without requiring a translation.
Documents to upload - Master
- Bachelor Diploma from a recognized university. Note: If you have not yet received the diploma, but are in your final year, you may submit documentation from your university, certifying that you are an active student in your last semester. The document must be issued through and certified by a representative of the Academic Registrar's Office, the Examinations Office, or equivalent.
- Transcripts of completed courses and grades *
- Thesis, independent work or equivalent from your bachelor’s degree (original language) only if the programme you are applying to requires a thesis or equivalent. Read more about if you need to upload a thesis or equivalent.

Country Specific Requirements - Master
Not all, but some countries have country specific requirements for academic qualifications. Read more here External link, opens in new window. to see if your country has any special instructions or requirements.
* If your degree was awarded in Bangladesh, Cameroon, Canada, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Sri Lanka or USA, an official transcript of record must be sent directly from your university to the Admissions Office, either in a sealed envelope or electronically to admissions.office@ju.se. If your degree was awarded in Pakistan, your degrees/transcripts and diplomas awarded must be attested by the Higher Education Commission in Pakistan and sent to Jönköping University by post in envelope sealed by HEC.
Important
Always submit documents in the official language of the country where you studied, along with an official translation in English. Documents directly issued in English are accepted. Regarding documents issued in German or French, the Diploma may be issued in the original languague, but the official transcripts must be translated.
When uploading documents:
- You must upload your documents in PDF-format. We only accept PDFs.
- Any documents that you scan for uploading must be from officially issued, original documents.
- If the document is in colour, scan it in colour.
- Remember to include all pages of documents, front and back, no matter what the content is on the page.
- Be sure that everything on the document is visible on the scan, especially embossed stamps.
Naming the files
File names should only include characters: A-Z, and numbers: 0-9. No special characters are possible. Maximum of 45 characters in length.
Processing of the Application
- Applicants will receive a confirmation via e-mail once an application has been placed.
- Admissions begins processing your application once the application is complete and all documents have been uploaded.
Offer of Acceptance and what to do next
- If admitted, an offer will be sent via e-mail. The applicant must accept the offer through the link in the e-mail, in order to receive the Letter of Acceptance (also via e-mail) as well as further instructions.
- If you are required to pay tuition fees (who is required to pay? Opens in new window.), the invoice of the first instalment equivalent to one semester tuition fee, will be available a few days after you have received the letter of acceptance. Please note that the invoice should be paid within 3-5 weeks. Your payment needs to reach us by the due date indicated on the invoice. Note: as we approach the application deadline of May 2, admitted students will have less than 5 weeks to pay the fee. This is due to the fact that the processing of an application for residence permit can take up to 3-5 months after the payment has been confirmed by Jönköping University. Application Fee
All Swedish Universities charge a mandatory application fee of 900 SEK (approx. 80 Euro) to citizens outside the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland to process and review an application. More information regarding who is required to pay fees.
