When Personalization is Not Enough: A Case of RecSys
Abstract:
Recommender systems are technologies that help us navigate through the abundance amount of online content that we have at our disposal nowadays. Services such as Netflix, Spotify, and Amazon have become indispensable in our lives. They continuously analyze our behavioral patterns to estimate our future behaviors, preferences, and needs. <p>Lecture title - <strong>Climate crisis: the necessity of and potential for the great transformation ahead</strong></p><p>The lecture will include a short summary on the state of the climate as a background for an analysis of the necessity of a rapid and large transformation of economic and industrial sectors. Focus will be on core issues, challenges as well as opportunities in a Swedish and global context. The short time now available for a take off in climate mitigation will be addressed. There will be time for questions at the end of the lecture. </p><p><em>Staffan Laestadius</em> is Professor Emeritus in industrial transformation at Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm. As Emeritus he has focussed on presenting his research in monographs in Swedish: <em>Klimatet och välfärden</em> (2013); <em>Klimatet och omställningen</em> (2018) and <em>En strimma av hopp</em> (2021). </p>
