As part of our research within surface technology we investigate how surface treatments affect corrosion mechanisms and mechanical properties, such as wear and surface hardness. In our electrochemical laboratory we carry out corrosion tests and surface treatments.

Potentiostat with EIS

Our potentiostat can be used for:

  • Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy
  • Polarization curves
  • Tafel plots
  • Cyclic voltammetry

These techniques are used for measuring or monitoring corrosion behaviour of surfaces, barrier properties of coatings as well as pitting resistance.

Rotating-Disc Electrode

The RDE is useful when investigating diffusion related electrochemical problems where the reaction is limited by mass transportation.

Pulse Plating Equipment

This equipment is used for both direct and pulse plating deposition of metallic coatings and dispersion coatings, as well as anodizing.

It has a high power ultrasound probe used for dispersing powders into liquid. It also has a customable deposition cell for special geometries or for scaling-up studies.
